Domestic hardwoods are among the most favored in the shop, especially ones that have a story to tell – those timeworn and nail ridden relics from our collective past. Reclaimed lumber has an appearance all its own. No matter the species, be it chestnut, oak, poplar, or heart pine, they all share the common marks of their age- iron streaking from rusted fasteners and the warm patina just beneath the weather beaten surface. There is an authentically distressed look born from a century under the sun.

On projects that include reclaimed lumber every effort is made to supply a photo of the structure from which the wood came.

In addition to antique woods we offer work in nearly every available domestic, from enduring favorites walnut, cherry, and maple to the less utilized, though no less beautiful, sycamore, beech, and butternut. If you have another species of wood in mind we can bring almost any exotic into the project. (Please note: We will not build using any woods currently on the CITES list of endangered species.)
